The Purchasing Process

Thank you for your interest in a Bright Doxies puppy! We work hard to raise exceptional companions and match them with excellent homes. Because every breeder operates differently, here is exactly what to expect when purchasing from us: |

Step 1: Submit an Application
Complete our online application. Once approved, you can choose to join our Paid Waitlist or remain on our Pre-Approved List (details below).
Step 2: Join the Paid Waitlist (Recommended)
Secure your spot in line by submitting a $300 non-refundable fee (applies toward the purchase price). We accept Venmo, PayPal, ApplePay, and Zelle.
Step 3: Watch for Updates
Visit our Planned Breedings tab to see upcoming pairings, who has been bred, who has been confirmed pregnant, etc. We'll also update the website when we we have new litters arrive.
Step 4: Puppy Matching & Selection
When a puppy matching your criteria becomes available, we will contact you. You have 24 hours to respond:
Purchase: To commit to the puppy, submit an additional $200 (bringing your total deposit to $500). This holds your puppy until pick-up.
Pass: If it’s not the right time or puppy, let us know within 24 hours. You will keep your spot on the waitlist for future litters.
Step 5: Photos and Visitation
We update puppy photos every other week (typically on Sundays). In-person visits are welcome by appointment once puppies reach 6 weeks of age.
Step 6: Pick Up Your Puppy (9–10 Weeks Old)
You have a 1-week window from the "ready to go" date to collect your puppy.

- Home Pick-Up: Free. Recommended! Meet us, the puppy's littermates and parents, and see where they are raised. The remaining balance of the puppy purchase price can be paid via cash or electronic methods at the time of pickup. No checks, please.
- Greensboro Airport (GSO): Free meet-up. Puppy must be paid for in full 48 hours prior to meeting at airport.
- Raleigh-Durham Airport (RDU): $100 meet-up fee. Puppy must be paid for in full 48 hours prior to meeting at airport.
- Flight Nanny: Cost varies (contact us for an estimate). Flight nanny will fly with your puppy in cabin and delivery puppy to the airport of your choosing. Puppy must be paid for in full 48 hours prior to leaving our home.

Two Options for Approved Applicants
Option 1: Paid Waitlist
Best for buyers who are certain they want a Bright Doxies puppy and are willing to wait up to a year for their perfect match.
Option 2: Pre-Approved List
Best for buyers who are just browsing, or shopping around with multiple breeders.

- Cost: $300 upfront (non-refundable, goes toward the total price).
- Pricing: Total puppy prices range from $2,500 to $3,500 (creams and dapples are at the higher end). Includes AKC Limited Registration (pet only, no breeding rights).
- How it works: We will reach out to you directly when we have a puppy available that is what you're looking for.
- The 1-Year Refund Option: If one year passes and we fail to produce a puppy matching your criteria, your $300 is fully refundable upon request. (Note: If you passed on a puppy that did meet your criteria during that year, no refund is available). You're also welcome to remain on the waitlist and continue waiting for the right puppy, if you choose.
- Not Included : Refunds are not given if you change your mind, buy from another breeder, something comes up, etc.
- Backing Out: If you select a puppy and place the full $500 deposit but later back out, $300 is forfeited and $200 is transferable to a future litter. However, if you back out within 1 week of the puppy's "ready to go" date, the entire $500 deposit is strictly forfeited.
Option 2: Pre-Approved List
Best for buyers who are just browsing, or shopping around with multiple breeders.
- Cost: Free.
- How it works: We do not send availability alerts to this list. You must actively check our Current Litters page and contact us if you see an available puppy you love.
- Securing a Puppy: If a puppy is available and a good fit, you will place a $500 non-refundable deposit to hold them until 9 weeks of age.
- Backing Out: The same deposit forfeiture rules apply: backing out early forfeits $300 (with $200 transferable), but backing out within 1 week of the "ready to go" date forfeits the full $500.

Because we prioritize ethical breeding practices and individual preferences, it is impossible to give an exact timeframe for when we will have a puppy for you. Here is a clear breakdown of how our waitlist process works:

- Our master list encompasses all requested genders, colors, patterns, adults, and puppies.
- There are not separate waitlists for each upcoming breeding (for example, we cannot place you on a specific list for an "Opal x Kit" litter).

Being number 18 on the list does not mean 18 people will get a puppy before you. Your wait depends entirely on what the people ahead of you are looking for compared to what is born.
Example of how selections work:
- 1st in line: Only interested in a chocolate dapple female.
- 2nd in line: Wants a male, open to all colors.
- 3rd in line: Wants a solid black puppy (male or female) that is ready to go June or later.
- 4th in line: Wants a puppy that will be great for a family with kids, with temperament being the most important factor. Open to either gender, all colors
- 5th in line: Looking for a retiring adult

- Biological Variables: When females come into heat, pregnancy success, litter sizes, and the specific genders/colors born. Until the puppies arrive, there are so many unknown variables.
- The "Pass" Factor: We are often surprised by how many families on the waitlist choose to pass when a puppy is offered. This means puppies frequently look for homes much further down the list than anticipated!
4. Search Criteria vs. Wait Time
We plan our breedings—within strict health, conformation, and temperament guidelines—to fulfill the requests of our Paid Waitlist. However, the more specific your search criteria, the longer your wait may be.
- Example: Someone waiting exclusively for a chocolate dapple female (with dapple females being the number one requested variety, and chocolate being recessive) will likely wait much longer than someone who wants a female but is entirely open to any color or pattern.
All of this to say that is very hard to predict an accurate timeline of when we'll have a puppy for you. We know that waiting for a new family member requires a lot of patience, and we truly appreciate your understanding of how nature and our careful placement process work.
